Laparoscopic-Assisted Resection of Jejunojejunal Intussusception Caused by a Juvenile Polyp in an Adult
نویسندگان
چکیده
Most bowel intussusceptions in adults have a leading point. However, there have been few reports of jejunojejunal intussusception secondary to a solitary juvenile polyp in adult. We report herein the case of a 19-year-old female with a solitary juvenile polyp in the jejunum causing intussusception. Laparoscopic-assisted reduction and segmental resection of the jejunum were successfully done for the patient.

The Role of Laparoscopy in the Management of a Diagnostic Dilemma: Jejunal Ectopic Pancreas Developing into Jejunojejunal Intussusception
Ectopic pancreas (EP) is a rare congenital anomaly defined as the presence of pancreatic tissue in topographic anomaly. It is usually silent but it may become clinically evident when complicated by acute conditions. The development of laparoscopic surgery has changed the way to manage such conditions, especially in the setting of emergency surgery, thanks to its diagnostic and therapeutic role ...
متن کاملJejunojejunal intussusception caused by an inflammatory fibroid polyp. Case report and review of the literature.
Inflammatory fibroid polyps (IFPs) are rare benign submucosal growth of the gastrointestinal tract. The exact pathogenesis is still not well known. Clinical symptoms are variable. Physical exam and laboratory tests are helpful in establishing the diagnosis ; however, microscopic examination of the resected lesions is required to confirm the diagnosis of IFPs. Surgical resection of the lesion re...
متن کاملLaparoscopic Treatment of Adult Sigmoidorectal Intussusception Caused by a Mucinous Adenocarcinoma of the Sigmoid Colon: A Case Report
Intussusception is a rare cause of intestinal obstruction in adult patients, but is common in children. In fact, it accounts for an estimated 1% of all cases of bowel obstruction in adults, although adult intussusception of the large intestine is rare. Sigmoidorectal intussusception, however, is a rare variety with few cases reported in the literature. A mucinous adenocarcinoma, a subtype of ad...
متن کاملPolypoid Arteriovenous Malformation Presenting with Jejunojejunal Intussusceptions in an Adult
Jejunal polypoid arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and jejunojejunal intussusceptions are both rare. Here, we present the case of a 61-year-old woman who suffered intermittent episodes of abdominal pain over the course of 13 years. A computed tomography scan of her abdomen and pelvis revealed a distal jejunojejunal intussusception. A suspected low density mass was observed at the tip of the in...
متن کاملSingle-incision assisted laparoscopic surgery (SILS) in the treatment of an intussusception induced by a solitary hamartomatous polyp: a case report and review of the literature
INTRODUCTION In this case report, we describe the successful treatment of a small-bowel intussusception, which was caused by a 3 cm solitary hamartomatous polyp, with single-incision laparoscopic surgery. Single-incision laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure with important advantages that allows the reduction of the intussusception and the resection of the polyp. This ...
